atem software no longer launches

Software controller refuses to open. Reinstalled twice using latest update, reboots, uninstalled, etc.

Windows 10 pro, Windows Surface Pro 2.

Worked like a charm, now DOA. In the taskbar, it does show the Software controller as having launched, but all that is there is a blank white window.

Any thoughts?

I have the exact same issue.

Windows 10, ATEM Control 8.6.4

Tried uninstalling, re-installing, downgrading to previous version, removing devices. No joy.
Clearly it is seeing the switcher, since the setup recognizes it before changing to the control screen. But the control screen doesn't come up and, same as previous poster, it shows blank when hovered over.

I've tested everything else out with a clean install on another system and all works fine. So, nothing with the switcher itself or the firmware on the switcher. Just a corrupted install I can't fix or something in the OS that isn't up to snuff.

Same here, using MS Surface on Win10 with ATEM Software 8.6.4.
On launch, I get the splash screen, hangs then closes.
ATEM setup software works, I can access my ATEM mini Pro.
The issue started after a BSOD..
Install, uninstall, reboot etc.. still same result.

I have exactly the last mentioned problem with all version after 9.3. Using another computer, which never hat ATEM Setup installed, works without problem. But that's not the computer I need for this.

Running 'ATEM Software Control' directly works.

I had the same problem, on Windows11 Pro, the ATEM software Control (ver 9.6.3) open and close "byself" few seconds after ) on Windows 11,
in fact, over 2 computers (laptop and desktop).

Well , these steps solved the problem.


- Open File Explorer, and go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Blackmagic Design\ATEM Switchers

- Right click on ATEM Software Control, and click Properties (or Show More Options -> Properties

- Go to Compatibility, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for", and select "Windows 8".

- Click OK, reopen ATEM Software Control.
