Stereo sound to YouTube stream?

PostMon Nov 29, 2021 12:37 am

Hi,

Newbie (to ATEM) here with a question about ATEM Mini Extreme. A Yamaha LS9 is feeding the ATEM a line-level stereo signal into mic 1 (tip=left, ring=right, sleeve=ground).

When I stream to YouTube using the ATEM, is that stream set up for stereo or mono? Is there a setting somewhere to control this?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

The audio output from the ATEM is always stereo (2-channel L/R). This applies to the stream output and HDMI program output.

You do have some control over the handling of the audio inputs into the switcher. In the Audio tab of the settings (gear icon) in the ATEM software, you can control whether each audio input is configured as a stereo pair or two separate mono channels. So if you wanted to achieve something like a mono audio mix, you'd just need to make sure that the input signals are treated as mono channels and panned to the center, so that way in the L/R stereo output, both audio channels are identical.

Thanks Dave,

I cobbled together a cable that took the board output and put left channel on tip, right on ring, and ground on sleeve of a 1/8" plug and that worked like a charm.

Regards,
Chuck
