Microphone with phone cell shielding

PostTue Dec 07, 2021 7:01 pm

Hello,
I tryed to reuses studio oldies but I have to face our age with gsm :x
Each time gsm send position to tower, I get noise.

I only found datasheets from audiotechnica conference microphones mentionning RFI/phones shielding. I'm surprise to not get akg, sennheiser... models.

Any advices for lavalier or handheld microphones ?

Are you using well made + balanced XLR cables?

Unshielded/poor grade or unbalanced audio cables are prone to picking up interference (including stray radio signals).

I'm general decent balanced cables are far less likely to be affected.

I use symetrical lines since many decades and you are right about the need of quality cables.

Gsm introduced pickup noise on the head. Many guests or journalists have now phones on broadcast set.

So identify handheld or lavalier microphone offering resistance to noise may be interesting ;)
