Low audio with the Beachtek DXA-BMD

Hi,

I purchased the Beachtek DXA-BMD for the BMCC and after using it a couple times I noticed that when I use my RODE NTG-2 with it, either using phantom power or using a AA battery and no phantom power, my audio levels are extremely low. No matter how much gain or audio combination I use on the beachtek the audio is VERY low unless I have the mic inches away from the audio source. When I use the G2 Evolution wireless mic I get very crisp loud audio. I asked Beachtek support why this is happening and they said that the V1.4 firmware update on the BMCC introduced an excessive amount of digital attenuation and I should set the camera gain to 80%. I did this and I still have the same issue then using the RODE NTG-2. Has anyone else had this same issue? And of so did you find a remedy for it?

P.S. I have tried using the record track one audio on the both tracks camera option as well as setting the DXA-BMD to mono and stereo and neither one has made a difference.

thanks,
Rich

I would love an answer to this question as well. Seems like the new firmware did very little to improve the audio function of the bmcc. It actually hurt it in some ways.

Here's a thread in regards to some of the audio performance with the BMCC.

Same problem here. Wireless input was superb. Boom mic levels had to be turned up all the way, and we had a bad hiss in much of that audio.
