It's an up/down converter for scaling up/down to other frame sizes. It can also deinterlace.

Much like the AJA FS product line, it is a frame sync geared towards an SDI broadcast environment where the extra features of the Teranex AV are not desired.

However, since the difference in price is only $300, I would opt for the Teranex AV every time (though I can see situations - like a sports stadium - where they are an sdi shop and need 100 frame syncs and saving $30,000 may be attractive for features they would never use).

To complete thread I can get it for only 500e. If Teranex express have real concrete uses ( :?: ) , I buy it : Else I keep money for AV.

There's plenty of uses for them - but to know if it's right for you, you need to decide what you're needing it for. If you're needing HDMI conversions, then it's the wrong thing for you. If you don't know what you need it for, other than you've seen other vans with them in, I'd hold off buying any of them until you see the need for one (but allow for space / wiring / router connections etc). You can get quite a few MD-HX's for the cost of one teranex (and you can never have enough of them).

We use them for 12G > 3G sdi conversion with keeping of CCU control and Tally.

Decimator 12G Cross does not retain the CCU and Tally info.. ;)

It keeps the CCU/tally data after scaling? Interesting...

Yup
Teranex Express,
Teranex AV
Teranex 12G > Quad ( only on link A and only if you feed it 12G )

We use the Teranex to down convert our Tally info as we have 3G Sdi tally and control solution but most often work in full 4K mode.

We use it for UHD -> FHD scaling too .. We use 3x BMD USRA BROADCAST in studio + that old small studio camera on JIMM .. And for return + controll it not support 12G (only 6G) .. So im downscaling 2160p50 to 1080p50 and send it to that camera.. And all 4 cameras are color corrected from BMD pannel ..

Original question was if it worth to buy AV model (even with half price) as It doesn't have hdmi. Thanks friends for pointing to specifics caracteristics relevant to on the field uses.

Yours advices was confirmed today when I asked several local broadcasters : they want 1080P for TC1/Aviwest links.
