ATEM Mini Pro needing YT Studio to go live

PostTue Jan 18, 2022 4:31 am

Hi

Setup:
ATEM Mini Pro with YouTube channel details entered
Wired connection from Mini Pro to ethernet switch

Going live on the Mini Pro displays a timer for how long the stream is running but nothing is seen on the channel.
However, if YouTube Studio is open for the channel, the stream goes live with no other interaction.

Is there a setting we're missing on the Pro or on YT maybe?

You need to enable the auto-start option in the YouTube stream settings if you want the stream to go live automatically when YouTube starts receiving data from the video encoder (such as an ATEM Mini Pro):
https://support.google.com/youtube/thre ... ntrol-room
https://support.google.com/youtube/answ ... ic=9257892

With the auto-start option turned off, YouTube will wait for you to manually go live on a broadcast. This is useful in case you want to start sending video data to YouTube before the scheduled start time for a broadcast so that you can check to make sure that the video and audio feed is ok before actually going live.

Thank you Dave!

I hadn't seen this and now I think I know why.
This only seems to be an option for scheduled streams.
Although our streams, and our clients in this case, are known ahead of time, we've both pretty much just been hitting stream without setting the schedule.
I've always kept the studio page up to keep an eye on health and analytics but the client is trying to minimize complexity for their situation. I suspect the slight procedural change will be better than having YTStudio open.
