Tally on aux of the atem 1m/e

PostMon Jan 24, 2022 3:22 pm

I want to show the aux tally on camera. instead of the program tally. The cameras must receive program feed for shading. Does anyone know how?

Your question is rather vague..

But PGM and all AUX outputs from the Atem 1ME output Tally and CCU info to the cameras.

The x8tally has 8 tally pins that can work as Program tally, Preview tally and Aux buss tally in any combination.

The tally light is connected to a camera ID that is on preview or program.

It sounds like you want it to indicate if the camera is being sent to an aux. Usually an aux is not being changed often like the program is. This is a very unusual thing to even attempt and would likely not have a broad application. My guess is you won't find a solution for this.

A follow-up question:
I have looked at the website for the ATEM hardware tally and I am intrigued. But...is there a pre-fabricated tally light available that can be connected to this device and mounted on the camera? Or does the user have to create their own?
Thanks.

It is designed to work with Blackmagic Cameras. Most of the ones newer than 2016 do support Tally (Pocket 4, Pocket 6k, Micro Studio 4k, Ursa Mini Pros, Ursa Broadcasts, Studio 4k, Studio 4k Plus, Studio 4k Pro, etc.). For the Pocket Cameras you need to use a bi-directional converter to enable tally and send one sdi in (tally and camera control) and one sdi out to the switcher (for video).

There may be some third party external tally lights that work over sdi from the switcher, but I can't confirm which ones would do that.

We build some based on SDI. But Tally only was not viable for mass production as cost was way too high.

We do offer it on our SDI RCU boxes as external tally.. But that is rather overkill for just a tally light. ;)
