ATEM Mini Extreme ISO Firmware upgrade -- how to?

Hi all,

I'm trying to understand how updating the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO Firmware works, and how to know if I have the correct version.

I currently have the Atem connected via USB

I started out by going here:
blackmagicdesign.com/support/family/atem-live-production-switchers

I downloaded ATEM Switchers 8.6.4 Update from 07 Oct 2021.

After installing this, I see "Atem Setup" and "Atem software control"

Atem Software Control0->Help->About-> indicates I have Version 8.6.4 of Atem software control.

However, when I run "Atem Setup" and click on the icon, it shows me as running Version 8.6.1.

I feel like this should perhaps also indicate Version 8.6.4?

My understanding is, I should get a popup indicating I need to update my firmware, but I'm not getting that popup.

I'm not sure if I need an ethernet connection in order to make everything work, but I did think the USB cable was used for firmware updates.

Same problem Tom has. Any thoughts? Does the switcher not need updating past 8.6.1 at this time?

This is not a problem, and is asked in almost every thread mentioning "firmware"...

If you have the latest software, it will install the latest available firmware for your device. You'll only get the pop-up to update if there is a newer update available on your machine. This is to avoid making you update your device when there are no changes, as well as to reduce the amount of testing needed for every release.

If you need to verify this, check the downloads for your device on the Support-page - which device an update applies to is listed on every download. Yes, it's a hassle, and BMD should include a list of current versions per device in their software, but it works.

the 8.6.1 is the latest firmware, and 8.6.4 the latest software

not every software update brings a new firmware!
