V-Lock power for Studio Camera Plus

PostThu May 12, 2022 10:05 am

Hello,

I have a big job coming up towards the start of next month which we're looking to shoot on Blackmagic Studio 4K plus cameras but we have very limited power.

Is it possible to power these with a d-tap to 12v connector?

Thanks!

Yes, this should be possible. The power consumption of the Studio Camera 4K Plus is 15 to 22W at 12V, so you'd just need to make sure that your D-Tap to 12V converter can handle at least 2A of current:

That should be well within the current range of most V-Lock and Gold Mount batteries.

The Studio Camera 4K Plus includes a 60W AC to DC power supply, but I think that is mostly because it is the same power supply as for the Studio Camera 4K Pro, which has significantly higher power consumption (40-46W) due to the brighter screen, SDI outputs, XLR inputs with phantom power, etc. on that model.
