Studio Viewfinder G2

PostThu May 12, 2022 4:12 pm

Tried to place an order for the Studio Viewfinder for use with a new URSA Broadcast G2. Discovered that its been end of lifed and replaced with a Studio Viewfinder G2. Haven't seen any announcement on this. Are there any functional differences between the G2 and G1 Studio Viewfinder? Are there any compatibility differences between the two models (i.e. do they both work with the URSA G1 and G2) if they have the correct firmware?

The most notable difference is that the G2 is 1920x1200 and uses a TFT panel (instead of the G1's 1080 IPS).
There are some other minor differences like the shape of the arms and the G2 ships with a quick release plate.

Some retailers (such as B&H and Full compass) still have the G1 in stock so you can still get it.

There is mention (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=151453) of the G1 viewfinder working on a UBG2 so I'm inclined to say yes, they'll both work for you.

The new panel is high NITS and much brighter than G1, good for outside OBs. It’s also cheaper!
