Studio Camera 4K Pro + Atem 4 ME 4K = no tally!

PostTue May 17, 2022 3:24 pm

Hello there.

I have recently purchased a set of Studio Camera 4K Pro and an ATEM 4 ME 4K mixer. I use SDI connectors, no HDMI... and I just can't figure how to get the tally to work. I have read that's it's "Tally over SDI" I have seen tons of videos where guys just plug the camera with a HDMI and the tally work.. but in my case nothing. The Tally switch on the camera menu is set to "on"... Any help would be much appreciated.

Be sure to use the Aux or PGM SDI outputs for the Return SDI towards the camera. On the 4ME there is 1 HD Down convert output which does NOT carry CCU and Tally data.. People tend to connect this connection.

Also quick check. If you hit PGM button on the Studio Camera. Do you get Any image from the Atem?

If not you have a connection issue.

Do you have SDI cables running both ways?

Tally is sent back to the SDI input on the camera from the ATEM.

Without a return feed there is no tally or CCU.

Thank you Xtreemtec and ManchesterV, you guys, are awesome!
Of course I took an HDMI connection as an example and didn't connect the "SDI in" to the "aux out" of the switcher... yet it's well explained in the "Connecting the Program Return Feed" section of the user manual. now I feel dumb

Thanks again!
