ATEM 1 M/E USB 3.0 and Mac Mini

PostWed Dec 11, 2013 1:52 am

This may have been answered already. I've searched and can't seem to find the same issue or an answer.

I'm trying to connect the ATEM 1 M/E Production Switcher to a late 2012 Mac Mini i5. The ATEM is updated to the latest driver, however, the Mac Mini isn't seeing it as a capture device. I'm trying to get the Livestream For Producer software to see it with no luck. The Mac Mini should have four USB 3.0 ports. I've also tried using the BMD Media capture software and it also sees no device.

Does anyone have luck with this? Am I missing a step somewhere? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can try installing this Desktop Video driver HERE:

It's a copy of Desktop Video with USB3 support for Mac. However it was not designed to be used with ATEM, so i'm not sure if it will work. Even if it does work, you're gonna have limited hard drive for capturing.

Thanks! Will try. I have no desire to record to local hard drive. I'm trying to get this working to use with Livestream. We record via two Hyperdecks. We just need communication to stream.

That did not work either. No clue what I am doing wrong. I install the latest driver and hook it up via USB 3.0 along with the ethernet. I have control over ATEM software but no capture device (even in the switcher software).

Switcher software will not work in this case. I believe it would only work though Media Express. Of course that being said, we've never tested it, and it is just a BETA. But check the preferences of Media Express and make sure they match the framerate and resolution of the ATEM

I have no control over anything because it isn't showing up at all. I have it connected via USB 3.0 with a brand new 3.0 cable. For some reason the mac mini is showing it under 2.0. The mac says it has 3.0 ... at least it's listed under hardware.
