ATEM 4K 1 ME Mediaplayer Clips gone after power cycle?

Hi,

maybe I missing something in the manual, but I figured out that our ATEM loses the Stills and Clipsstores after Powercycle.
Does it mean that our ATEM needs power all times, to avoid the slow upload process?

Another thing is, how can I stop the automatic transfer of Clips and Stills after "ATEM Software Control" program restart.

Cheers.
Gunter.

Hello Gunter. As you have found, the stills and clips in the ATEM are in "Volatile" memory which must have power to maintain. While it does take time, you can use the save and recall function to restore the stills and clips to the switcher electronics. Some users will add a UPS to the switcher power.

Your second question is a little different. The ATEM control software does not reload the stills and clips to the switcher electronics when restarted. The software is actually reading what is in the switcher to rebuild the Media tab on your computer so you can see the thumbnail image and know what is installed on the switcher. It is merely syncing the information to the computer. This process would also happen if you add a separate control computer to the network as well.

Regards, Gary

Well future feature request then - add a USB host port that lets you plug in a USB key to store such things - also would be good to save settings to move between switchers.

Thank you. We always take note of feature requests.

The Save and Recall feature in the ATEM will save all settings (as you choose) and may be recalled in the same or any other ATEM switcher connected to the controlling computer. This will even work across different ATEM models, but functionality not supported in a different switcher will be ignored. This will let you "move" settings, stills, and clips between switchers.

I guess it would be great if you didn't have to always have a computer plugged in for some of the more simple functions (i.e. available on other brand switcher).

Adding a USB host port seems like a elegant solution to add onboard storage for media/settings.

Yeah, memory is CHEAP these days. I really think you should be able to have a certain amount of non-volatile memory built into the unit in the future. Also, only two video clips? With around 360 total frames between them? Less at full resolution. That's kind of screwed up in this day and age. Put some storage in there. 64GB is what? $30? And let's have ability to store some real videos internally, like quicktimes.

So add all that to your feature request sheet.

I was hoping to leave our logo loaded in the media pool and have it default to the output when the unit is powered on, but I guess that is not (yet hopefully!) possible.
