Hello All,

Just received the ATEM 4 M/E Constellation HD and it is not seen in device manager as a web cam. I also have 1 M/E and 2 M/E Constellation HDs, and they work fine. Anyone else experiencing this?

Have you updatet your PC to the latest Atem Control version? There the support for the 4M/E was added.

Yes, I am using the latest software. USB C out works fine on my other 1 M/E and 2 M/E HD Constellations, same computer, same cable. Do you have a 4 M/E HD with USB C out working? I would like to find if others are working or is it just me.

I spoke tech to support; it seems I have a defective unit. I am sending it back to my vendor, and I'll try another unit.

I've just received my 4 M/E Constellation HD. I experience the exact same problem. The 2 M/E Constellation HD is recognized as webcam, the 4 M/E is not. But I see the 4 M/E as "audio video source" in the device manager at least, but programs like OBS don't recognize the 4 M/E.

Did you receive a new unit and does it work?

I did receive a new unit, same problem.

Looking like it’s a firmware issue then.

I've also contacted the support know to stress the problem.

Well looks like that isn't the only issue with the 4ME. I see a lot of issues lately in this forum and FB groups all about the 4ME. Seems the firmware isn't ready..

Really looks like the firmware was released in a rush. There are also some small bugs, that the LED color on the smaller front panel buttons is not updated everytime correctly or set correctly from startup. But I didn't report these minor issues so far...

Got the confirmation. I've referenced Winston's case and this thread... maybe that helped.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have been able to reproduces the behaviour you are seeing in our Lab and have reported back to our developers.

I belive an update is coming that should resolve this however I can not comment on when the update may come.

I have seen people complain about supersource frame drops, Disconnecting randomly, freezing up, etc..

While that works perfect on other models, And the long overdue delivery time Makes me wonder if they had to change to a full different model FPGA or maybe even a different architecture that there are that many problems with this unit compared to a pretty flawless record over the last few years that not maybe bug in roll out were there.

Today a new ATEM update has been released. Nothing mentioned about 4 M/E or Constellation HD. Anybody tried it?

I've re-opened my ticket to try to get an update....

The update only applies to a new Hardware revision for the Atem 1ME 6G model.

So with that in mind that they have done a new Hardware revision. ( meaning some chips were just not able to get them ANYMORE!! )

But if you think about it.. Spending that much time and effort in revamping 7 year old hardware. Means that a Constellation 1ME / 2ME 12G 4K is not coming anytime soon.


But a revamped hardware of a 6G model unit. And also few days ago from the MV16 6g. ( did you know btw that the MV16 and Smarthub 16x16 / Cleanswitch 12x12 are all based on the same PCB. Only a few more connectors and chips to support those. and different firmware.

I’m totally baffled as to why Blackmagic wasted our time on “improvements to optimize manufacturing of ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K”.

How random. In the meantime we have returned two Constellation 4ME switchers that were defective.

Could you describe what was defective? My Constellation 4 M/E is waiting in the shelf, I'm too afraid to use it in production. While it was stable on bench testing so far (despite the bugs that were found, like SuperSource, Webcam port...). My Constellation 2 M/E seems to work flawlessly... only missing the border function for SuperSource?!

This can only mean that they are NOT ready to release a new 12G Atem.. Which is a pitty as to my idea the TVS Pro 4K would be perfect switcher in a rackmount version. Give it 4 Aux outputs instead of 1 and you have a fine 1ME auto scaling 4K switcher.

But it probably will all have to do with the availability of certain FPGA's not being available in mass to the market right now.

As the 6G models run on older version of the Xilinx FPGA's that seems to be available for mass production..

But since the update is released yesterday i do not expect any new update before ISE.. so guess we wont expecting anything new in the Atem Department from ISE trade fair.

Another ATEM software release, but still not fixes for the 4 M/E Constellation HD. They did mention "General performance and stability updates" as always, but nothing for this unit. Just tried it with 9.0

Should be fixed in the 9.0.1 released today. Will test it this afternoon.

Installed the update, now seen as a webcam.
