Pocket 6k > SDI/HDMI converter > ATEM Mini Pro Iso

PostThu Jan 19, 2023 5:56 pm

So, we have expanded our studio and now have a small control room. We use the ATEM Mini Pro ISO with our three Pocket 6K cameras. To be able to get cables from the studio floor to the control room we put in some SDI cable and connected everything with the Bidirectional SDI/HDMI converters.

The signal from the cameras is great but I was hoping that we'd also still get camera control and tally but we're not. Will this not work the way we have set up our system? Or is there a way that it does work but we have missed it?

TIA,
Chuck

You have to attach two SDI cables between the two BiDirectional converters.
A very much cheaper and easier way to connect the Pocket’s to the Atem is by using fiber HDMI.

I'm not trying to be dense but are you saying we need two SDI cables for each camera?

As far using fiber HDMI, we've already run the SDI and it wasn't all that expensive.

Yes, you need two cables per camera:1 is for the video feed and the other is for program return, tally and remote control.
With HDMI you only need 1 cable which will do that, except return video.

Cool, thank you for the info!

UPDATE: Yup, that did the trick. Thank you so much! I'd buy you a coffee if could.

There are even more options:

Man, these converters are phenomenal. I can't believe how much they do for the cost.

Thanks again for getting us sorted out!
