Hyperdeck Studio 4k Pro - Fill/Key timing

PostThu Mar 09, 2023 4:31 pm

Dear Blackmagic Forum Community,

I am running here several Hypedeck (mini) + Hyperdeck Studio 4K Pro in a TV production company producing in 1080i50.

Last year I was playing serveral ProRes 4444 clips with fill and key on my mini decks for live keying, and everything worked perfect.
Since September we upgraded with 4 Hyperdeck Studio 4K Pro which I prefer to use.

The same clip (opener with Wipe/Key at the end) turned out to produce a black "border" at "the wipe to studio" with the new hyperdecks. To be more precise after rendering new clips etcetc ist that the Hyperdeck Studio 4K Pro plays out with 1frame late on the Key channel!

This does NOT happen with the older Hyperdeck mini, but playing back the exact same ProRes4444 clips being keyed external on the vision mixer, the key comes late.
I now delayed the fill channel with a frame sychronizer/delay +1F so Fill and key now work fine again, but this blocks of course unneccesary resources here.

Both units (hyd mini & hyd studio 4K pro) are running the latest available firmware (the mini is on 8.2.1) the 4K Pro on 8.1.1).
Can you please verify this and get some fix here please!
Thanks
Roland

Shoot a Support ticket to BMD. This is a user forum.. BMD does not really read all posts here. ;)

Using a Frame sync to delay 1F says enough. So i would put this at support to let them verify.. Might need to send your file in so they can check.

Bought this device to play content with Alpha in Prores 4444 4K and it doesn't work. I find it very disappointing. One of key features that make this product unique and it doesn't work!

Make sure you render it in the correct way.. Hyperdecks are REALLY picky on rendered files.

Best way is to export from Davinci Resolve with the Hyperdeck Preset to get this working.

Totally agree, it's ridiculous!
And BMD is aware of it as the problem has been confirmed by support and yet these decks have been without a fix for this issue for 21 months! My guess, the fix will never come as with many other problems in their devices.
