I have tried multiple HDMI splitters from the output. They mostly fail. Are there settings that can help with that?

I tried several ones and all of them work, maybe that's mere luck. Be sure to get an externally powered one, not one that relies on HDMI +5V power.

I use Ocean Matrix HDMI D/A's on a regular basis. They work very well.

I've had no problem using a splitter on HDMI Out 2 from the ATEM Mini Extreme, but now I also want a splitter on HDMI Out 1 ... but that does not work. Splitters that work elsewhere have no output when connected to HDMI Out 1, even when only one of the splitter's outputs is connected.
There seems to be something happening on OUT 1 that is different than OUT 2.

I tried four different splitters. For each, I tried all frame rates from 24 to 60. For splitters that had switches related EIED and scaling, I tried all settings.
All the splitters I tried work on HDMI Out 2 and al other hardware I have, but when HDMI Out 1 was the input, there was no signal on either output.
I finally tried inserting a "Blackmagic Design Bi-Directional SDI to HDMI 3G Micro Converter" between HDMI Out 1 and the splitter, with an SDI cable connected between SDI in and SDI out.
That works perfectly.

So is it an HDMI compression issue? Is it a HDCP issue that's getting stripped out converting to SDI? Is it a signal strength issue?
