We just received the HD8 and immediately updated to the latest software. However, I have noticed that are times when the unit powers up, but the panel looks distorted or will sometimes not show at all unless we unplug the unit and plug it up again.

Any ideas or advice offered will be greatly appreciated.

It may be a bug. I did experience this when I upgraded firmware. But I also lost the ISO audio recordings.
Only the camera ISO's showed up. All of the the madi, xlr, rca audio was lost.

@sbraun, were you able to recover it, eventually? I have swapped power cables, and uninstalled and reinstalled the latest software as well. it eventually came back to normal, but only after 15 minutes of running idle. it seems to happen after the switcher has been off for a while and then back on again.

I had the same thing. I thoigh it had to do with the unit traveling in cold weather. It seemed to be better after a while. However, the screen seems. a little glitchy sometimes.

We had the same problem unboxing brand new. White lines all across the LED. I hope there will be a service bulletin or tech article somewhere to inform. We upgraded the firmware, and whether or not that was in fact the solution, the HD8 seems perfectly fine now.

New product teething issues. I'm not concerned.

*correction, issue remains, still hasn't affected performance.

@throwfirewoodatblackmagic, it seems to be perfectly fine after it's recycled at least a couple of times. It's just frustrating, but I know things happen. Blackmagic seems to be communicating with me pretty well on the issue. I vaguely remember my BMD TV Studio 4k doing something similar a couple of years ago. However, it only happened once and never again. This is an ongoing issue and I am leery about taking it onset anywhere right now and not seeing anything. I appreciate your comments.

Same thing for me. Have you found how to fix this?

I ended up exchanging the Studio HD8 for another one. Things have been perfect since then.

Same issue... After 2 or 3 days without issues, the panel went suddenly wrong.... i made the firmware update at the very beginning before using it...

answer of the BM support:
The steps below may help with resolving the behaviour with your ATEM.

The following instructions will activate the firmware recovery mode on your device:
- Please install the latest version of ATEM Setup and open the application on your computer.
- Please ensure your device is powered off.
- Next you will need to connect the device via USB to the computer.
- Once the device is connected via USB, please power the unit on whilst holding the SET button.
- The device will enter recovery mode and you will be able to update the firmware of the unit.
- If you are not prompted to update the unit, please click the circular settings button within the software and then click update.
- Please wait for the update to finish. Once completed the unit should be operational again.
- If this does not work the first time please try again.
