Quality of monitor output is poor

PostTue Mar 21, 2023 7:50 pm

Hey all,
I have an Atem Mini Pro and the quality of the monitor output is poor. The colours are extremely off and the resolution and the level of granularity displayed is poor.

I have already tried
- different HDMI cables
- different inputs (iPad vs. mac)
- different colour profiles
- different ports
- different apps (zoom vs. teams)
and while these different settings make small differences, nothing seems to really solve the problem.

The video from my Canon R6 camera is however displayed very well.

Any ideas?

Have you tried connecting the source (I assume computer) to both HDMI1 and HDMI 3 to see if the colors change? I have read that HDMI1 on the Mini's processes the color differently than other inputs, and that input 1 is meant for connecting computers (RGB) sources.

On the Extremes I think I read that HDMI1 and HDMI2 both are RGB based, other inputs are YUV.

I'm not claiming to be an expert, just posting something I read somewhere written by someone.

I can however verify that the HDMI1 input is different than the other 3 inputs on both my switchers, I have had devices that work in HDMI1 but not in HDMI2-4. Chaining cable types solved my problem, but the difference was there, either by design or bad QC.
