Atem Mini Pro No HDMI output with splitter/extender

PostSun Apr 02, 2023 4:44 pm

I tested the HDMI splitter/extender with my laptop and it worked ok. However, when I use the HDMI out of the ATEM Mini Pro, I get "No Signal" error message on the monitors, even after pressing EDID button on splitter and getting a green light on status.

Been reading about HDCP, EDID, scalers, etc. Any idea how to get this to work via changing setting on my laptop/ATEM? Or suggestions for a different splitter/extender that would work?'

I'm having the same problem with an ATEM Mini Extreme ... a splitter works on the second HDMI output, but not the first. I was thinking about trying:

HDMI-SDI converter -> SDI-HDMI converter -> splitter.

Between that and the extender you linked to, I don't know which might work better .. either way the cost would be about $80 USD.

I may have to pick one and try it.

I got it to work with this splitter/extender with some caveats:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0714N2JFZ?re ... tails&th=1

I learned the ATEM treats the HDMI input #1 differently than the rest (i.e. it derives the output format from that input...I think  ).

What this meant in practice: I am using two inputs: A is my laptop's HDMI out. B is the HDMI out of a camcorder. The splitter did not work at all with my laptop plugged into input 1 of ATEM. I had to plug the camcorder into input 1 and the laptop into input 2 of ATM. Then, with the settings below, I got it all to sync and display picture:

EEID of Gofanco is set to #5 config in manual (first two pins up, third one down).

ATEM output (click on cog wheel in Atem Software Control) is set to 1080p 24.

Canon Camcorder is set to 60i

Hope this helps someone else. I may have looked for another switcher had I known of all these quirks.

We use Ocean Matrix HDMI D/A's on a regular basis without issue.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Converting from HDMI to SDI, then back from SDI to HDMI worked perfectly.
