I need to capture the output of my ATEM 1 in h.264 for archive purposes. I am finding out there are not many products available. So far I have only found the BMD Pro Recorder and Matrox Monarch HD.
Know of any others?
Thanks
D

for a bit more money you can get a TVS which will do the recording

There is a unit by Panasonic, the AG-HMR10, that is a stand-alone recorder in AVCHD format - which is essentially a professional H.264 format. Practically the same, yet also very different, in that it doesn't record an .mov, it records an .mts format file structure. Not too hard to deal with if you have any kind of decent professional editing software or the free Panasonic viewer.
It is essentially H.264. It does record. But you may or may not have personal issues with the file type.

Just to expand on why I recommend the TVS. It can incorporate audio from an external source in addition to the audio embedded in a input, it allows you to mix into the h.264 additional feeds, and using MXlight you can record and preview and also stop and start and slow down the playback of the RECORDING at the same time as your recording and have no impact. Most other recording devices can either record OR playback but not do both at the same time. In addition with MXlight you can record using small files continuously generated so that you do not have the potential for a failure and loosing the entire file. Again just some things to consider in the decision process

Having been frightened off by the various reports of audio/video drift on BMD devices, I recently opted for a standalone device from Vitec. Have a look here;
http://www.vitec.com/products/acquisiti ... S-H506070/I opted for the FS60 HDMI version, the loop-through will come in handy. I haven't had a chance to use it in anger yet, but early mucking about with it showed that it is simple to use and the quality is excellent.

You can also get a
Teradek Cube and record on-unit. The added advantage of this is that it can also stream live too. 2 for 1!
Thanks,

I decided to give the BMD H.264 Pro Recorder a shot. I discovered we are using one at work. Our Chief Engineer and IT Director swear it will work if I don't use the newer software updates. It will be here Monday. I'll update you on my progress.

An update on the BMD H.264 Pro Recorder... Recordings less than 45 minutes look great, then sync starts to slip. After reading the forum on this issue it appears the problem is not the Pro Recorder but with Media Express 3.2. Looks like I will probably have to roll back to version 3.1 and capture to a different computer than the ATEM-1 is using.
Any suggestions?
