Live Video for a 240" X 75" screen

PostWed Apr 12, 2023 9:21 pm

OK, this may be crazy, but I am planning to create a huge video wall using 2-3 commercial projectors stitched together. (ever been to a conference and they have those massive screens for the keynote?)

What I want to do is be able to have 11 separate video feeds all broadcast at once on this screen plus a "live" background and 2 more "windows" with stats.

Something like this Image

Imagine 5 live feeds on the left and right and 1 large feed in the middle.
Is that even possible? And if so, any thoughts on what software/hardware would be required to pull this off?

I'd want the flexibility to have many different configurations too, not just the 5x1x5 setup.

Thanks in advance

I know the Extreme can do four with SuperSource. I'm not aware of 5 being possible. And then there is the very odd layout that 5 would necessitate, whereas a 4-up can fill the space of 1 perfectly.

Three projectors and three Extremes might get you close.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

This is why the Barco E2 exists. You can’t blend across MEs so any broadcast switcher(s) would be incredibly limited in function.

Good Luck

Watchout, by Dataton does exactly what you're looking to do. We've been using it for over 20 years. We have a permanent install running 52 separate image screens in all manner of combinations. It can take live camera feeds via SDI and NDI, as well as an appreciable number of media files. You can map multiple inputs to any size and position on the screen. You can even have them move around, for say an opening/closing sequence. You can use pretty much any decent digital projectors (we use Panasonic).

P.S Whenever you can, go rear projection as opposed to front. Much better contrast and less affected by light bounce off the stage floor.
