Timecode Options with Blackmagic 4K

PostFri Apr 14, 2023 6:42 pm

Hi guys, so I have a TC related question.

A lot of my current work is events based, they want live clips of the events for socials. Currently I have a pretty bad system where I record several hours straight of footage on Cfast or ssd.

Then I have a zoom recorder that I plug into the sound desk, and then hit rec on that, line up the audio in post and video and then cut away at the best bits.

Now that forces me to literally not stop recording which isn't ideal at all and makes me chew through media, so I wanted to see what reasonably cheap option there is for timecoding each device, the tentacle sync, and there's the diety TC1 I believe they are called, both pretty expensive as you need a few of them as far as Im aware? (total novice to TC never needed in in the past)

Is there any good cheaper solution for the above besides the above items I mentioned?

Thanks ahead

Changed my needs a bit after some thought

Goals are essentially to record some mega loud events with good quality audio, before using my rode video mic wasn't the best sound when just relying on the mic singularly.

Then mixed in the atmos audio from the zoom 50/50 and that was absolutely great, bonus was that I could add in the booth recorded mixer audio but this isn't essential

What I need essentially is a system to not have to sync in post ideally,

Without buying extra timecode devices and or stopping and starting recording for each clip and layering in post isn't ideal either as there's 100s of short clips being shot.

Essentially question is can you run audio on the Blackmagic through 2 audio sources, one rode mic and the other being a reliable atmos like the zoom? And if so what's the wiring system look like?
