ATEM SDI Extreme ISO out to consumer HDMI Monitor

PostSun Apr 16, 2023 6:51 pm

Hello. Just trying to setup the ATEM SDI Extreme ISO for the first time. Never used one before. This was research from months ago, but I thought if I bought a Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 3G, that I would be able to output my Preview via SDI output from ATEM to a consumer computer monitor. I tried two generic computer monitors that are native 1080 (in Nvidia settings they show to be at 60Hz). When trying this out I get "Out of Range" message on the monitors. The only thing I have tried was switch the Micro Converter settings from Default Settings to the only two other options, "SMTPE Standard" and "Normal Levels".

My endgame is not to go over budget for my church and recycle our computer monitors and not buy broadcast-type monitors.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

I have this issue as well. Passing the output thru a microconvertor to HDMI. The only way I can get a monitor to work is to set the ATEM to 1080p50. Then its fine. I also have a similar issue where I cant play in from SDI on a Video Assist - all the ATEM sees is black frame.

I hope you don't mind the bump. I had to wait to get my post approved and it then started out on page 2 a few days later.

What is the resolution/hz that you are using on the switcher ? Plain computer monitors tend to not support under 50hz.

Out of range means your hdmi display can't display the project frame rate of the Atem.
We see this a lot when working with 25fps.
One solution would be to use a Decimator to convert the the Atem frame rate to something the display understands.

Its always good to have a decimator along when doing client event work.
Its the Swiss Army knife for any conversion. Not only frame aspect, rate etc. but its also a cross converter for hdmi/sdi.
