Hyperdeck Studio HD Mini and Time Code SDI in/out

I'm trying to set up several Hyperdeck Studio HD Minis with external time code (house time of day). Which time code standard is expected by the Minis on the Time Code SDI input/output? I would prefer to use the external time code input over the "video input" because not all our video sources have time code embedded in the video signal.
