URSA Broadcast G2 and heat

PostThu Apr 27, 2023 8:38 pm

I am looking into using URSA Broadcast G2s for our future multi-cam live productions and didn't know how they handle internal heat from being on for multiple hours at a time. Has anyone had or heard of this issue with this camera? They would be powered by a SMPTE fiber cable. Thanks in advance.

Unless you're in abnormally hot conditions like direct sunlight you should be fine. The URSAs, including the UBG2 have active cooling via a fan that pulls air through the middle of the camera body.

If the camera is doing additional processing such as recording or h.264 compression it kicks out more heat but not a ton more. If you're using it as part of a fiber chain for broadcast without local recording you have nothing to worry about.
