Unable to sync any cameras to external reference
Posted: Fri May 12, 2023 1:15 amThe goal of my project is to synchronize the camera to an external video source and film a CRT without the screen rolling.
I'm unable to get my cameras to sync to any reference signal that I feed into them. I have an AJA FS1 that I am using for a frame synchronizer, and it doesn't have any problem syncing to any of my reference signals. However, when I feed that same reference into the camera, it won't sync. I set reference in the menu to external, but the REF symbol never appears in the upper right hand corner.
I even bought a BlackMagic sync generator to rule out incompatibility with my older sync generator but the camera will not sync to it either.
I have a couple of BlackMagic Ursa 4k cameras, I picked this model because due to the global shutter. I couldn't get either of them to sync so I got a Mini 4k since it has an explicit setting for sync. I hoped this would help, but even after setting the camera to sync, it does not sync.
