ATEM IP Distributor (more than 9 Devices)

PostSun May 21, 2023 6:14 pm

We have a ATEM Constellation Switcher and meanwhile we have 3xCCU Panel, 2xPC ATEM Control + Middlethings SW, 1xTally Interface and 3xAtem Panels. We reached the limit how many devices can connect to our Switcher.

Is there still not a way to connect more than 9 Devices to a ATEM Switcher? The blue pill is in my mind not the right ting. We would need a kind of a distributor. :?

Also the "Open Switcher Control" / pyATEM project works on an ATEM protocol proxy. (Edit: currently only for customized gear, it does not proxy the original protocol.)

Also the LibAtem project works on a proxy (working in the background of Companion). However there is not much progreess, but one release.

skaarhoj wrote me this:

Using our Blue Pill device it is possible to connect more than the connected client limit of Skaarhoj panels. This is because only 1 or a few of the Skaarhoj panels would be making the connection while the others would be using a connection already established by another panel.

We do not have a way for non Skaarhoj panels to connect to the Atem.

Indeed. The "ATEM Proxy" only works with Skaarhoj products.

We learned it at our expense several years ago by purchasing one unit that was completely useless as we wanted to expand, as the original poster on this thread, /overcome the max number of connected devices to our switcher(s).

At the time, the desciption of the ATEM Proxy was somewhat "deceiptive" (not clear) and somehow made us think that it would act as a real proxy device to the ATEM.
Well, it didn't worked the way we wanted and so we reached Skarrhoj for more information on the real usage of the said "proxy" device and we were informed that it would only worked in a Skaarhoj environnement.
So we learned the hard way we've just been throwing away 300.00$ for a raspberry thingy for nothing... (we didn't own any Skaarhoh device)
Well, that's one way of learning to better read and/or ask for information before buying anything. My bad.

I also agree that we'd need real ATEM Proxy in order to have more control to the ATEM network control.
Any device or trick that could halp us to securely expand the number of connections is welcomed.
