ATEM Studio Pro 4K Live Switcher loses settings

Hello all. Tonight I upgraded our live streaming system with a ATEM Studio Pro 4K Live Production Switcher. Everything went pretty smooth until I powered down the unit and turn it back on. The switcher didn't save anything that I reassigned in the menu. For instance I re mapped the Aux out to be a program out and when I cycle the switcher on and off the Aux out defaults back to color bars. How do I save everything that I re-map so that a power cycle doesn't affect them?

Thanks,
-Rob

Your answer is in the manual. ;) Something with Save Startup state. 8-)

Thank you Daniel, but still a little confused. Yes the manual definitely talks about saving settings when referring to the ATEM Software Control. However, I am not using software to control the switcher. The studio pro 4k is for lack of a better term, a piece of hardware with real buttons, a console. It also has a menu that I can scroll through built into the unit. I never had to hook up my Mac to re-map my Aux Out, I just did it in the menu on the switcher itself.

So, does this mean that even though I have the physical switcher, I still need to use the ATEM Software Control and duplicate the settings that I've already ready set using the onboard menu of the switcher, just to save start up settings? and if this is the case do I need to keep it connected also or will the console store these settings once set using the ATEM Software Control? Sorry if I sound thick headed. I was trying to get away from a software controlled switcher.

Thanks for your response
Rob

All Atem switchers work the same - they have a built in bit of memory which they load the configuration from when they start up - when you have a configuration that you want to be recalled on start up, you have to tell the switcher to save that state using the Atem Software Control application. It will not save to this memory every single setting change you make while using the switcher in order to boot up in the same state you left it.

As a separate note, the physical control panel of the switcher and the software control both change the same settings - any change made on one will be reflected on the other. If you have the switcher set up as you want it to be after restarting, you only need to use the software control to run the Save Startup State function, not reset everything you've already changed.

Also note, it's recommended to leave the switcher powered for up to a minute after running the Save State command to ensure all settings are saved correctly. Turning any Atem switcher off immediately after running the command can result in only some of your settings being recalled correctly.

Finally, the Startup State and Saved shows are different functionalities - you do not need a computer to recall a Startup State - however (depending on switcher model) you may not get the contents of the media pool restored when the switcher powers on without using a saved show onto a computer.

Thank you James! Our streaming system is coming from a 10 year old ATEM TVS where a software switcher was the only option for switching. I didn't realize that a console switcher also needs some functionality from the ATEM Software Control. I glossed over this in the manual because I thought this was the switching software which I didn't need because we now had a console switcher. Appreciate the explanation and the added insights. Now I'm off to finish the setup.

10 years ago when I put this system together, I really appreciated this forum as they walked me through some things and now fast forward to the present day where I am upgrading our entire streaming system and this forum is still supporting me. thank you!!!!
