Dear friends
I want to bring to your attention and expertise a problem which I cannot find a solution at the moment.
After years of forced migration from the MAC to the Windows environment, the release of the new MAC STUDIO M2 ULTRA convinced me of a possible return home provided that the operation was the one I currently have with my super-armored PC.
I get straight into the problem: my online activity essentially consists of making video streaming and filming events where I need to use multiple cameras at the same time.
The solution I found is to use an ELGATO card for streaming webinars (not compatible with MACOS) which allows me to connect up to 4 cameras to the PC and allows me to bring these video signals to OBS STUDIO which is mine platform of choice for this type of activity.
If I switch to the new MAC STUDIO I would have the problem of connecting at least 4 cameras as I do now with the PC.
The solution that I have hypothesized and that I bring to your attention would be to use the PCIe BMD DeckLink Quad HDMI Recorder card (which would allow me to have a 4k stream from 4 video sources and which is COMPATIBLE WITH MACOS) but to do so I would have to use a external box like those used for e-GPU where to put the card and then connect everything to the MAC STUDIO via Thunderbolt/USB C cable.
What is not clear to me is whether the system "sees" this configuration or not or whether the card can be used externally without problems with the decoding of the multiple input HDMI signal.
Do you have any experience with this?
Looking forward to your help!!
