Atem Extreme ISO Record - Not Saving to SSD -

PostTue Jun 13, 2023 4:53 am

Hey,

So I have been using the Atem Extreme ISO for a while now and never had issues recording ISO to a T5 SSD.

Today however, I did the normal live-streaming and recording as usual. Plugged in all the cables as normal, did the shut down as normal.

I have now come to the edit the livestream, but for some reason, the SSD has no ATEM files on it.

I know there is a recording on it as the SSD space has been taken 170GB which is what the livestream should have been.

I have plugged it back into the Atem and the usual Green light appears, the usual register of the SSD is on the Multiview page. I hit record. it works.

Plug it back into the Mac, and strangely there folder with the event name and it has appeared with a "2" next to it. Clearly the Atem has recognised that the original folder name is there since it has added a 2... but on the Mac, there is no folder which i am looking for. I have hidden files discovered, I have checked the SSD on 2 Macs, but still no files anywhere.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Mark

* Problem Solved *

The issue was by having a " " (space) at the end of the ISO record filename.

Fix - Don't put a space at the end of your filename.

This created a bug which prevented you from seeing your folder on a Mac. However you could see it on a PC, but you couldn't rename it or copy the folder. You could move the contents out of the folder to access you data but that was about it.

The folder is then unable to be deleted unless you do it in Linux.

Blackmagic are aware of it and will fix this bug in the next update.

Leaving a " " space at the end of the ATEM recording filename was a real problem for us too. The trailing space would sometimes be added by the ATEM operator by accident.

Taking the SSD to a PC (Windows 11) showed the folder and contents but Windows sees those folders as having 0 bytes, has trouble copying or moving them as-is, and cannot easily rename them (i.e. to get rid of the trailing space).

The easiest solution on Windows is to install 7-Zip, and then launching the 7-Zip File Manager which brings up an explorer-like window. There you can easily delete the folder's trailing space by placing your cursor at the end and hitting backspace twice (seems like some hidden character may also be present).

Does anyone have experience of their drive completely failing and having nothing on it when you're finished recording? Our Atem iso extreme is now doing that. RED light is on, drive seems to be going down, and then when we unplug it and head over to our computers, we plug in the drive and there is NOTHING there. Completely vanished, nothing at all. I don't even see anybody talking about this because I feel like it doesn't happen to anyone else. Hopefully (not hoping this happens to you because it's brutal) someone else will.
Thanks

Frequently, drive continues to blink like its writing, no indication anything is wrong but when you hit stop record it stays red. Only indication its not working is the pinwheel for time remaining stops ticking down.

Requires power cycle to return to normal.

We run two for redundancy now.

Hi Onyx214,
could you please tell me how do you run 2 for redundancy? this is the 2nd time projects get ruined for me as I cant figure out to implement redundancy, I am using 3 cameras going to ATEM via HDMI, I cant fathom how to run a backup. I would deeply appreciate your input.
Thanks!
