Wrong colour of interlaced video signals on TVS

Hello,

I will try to explain what my setup and problem is.
I have different camera feeds and a HDMI signal from a Kramer VP-436n videoscaler. The camera signals are fine, no matter if my TVS project is 576i, 720p or 1080i and the camera outputs are set accordingly.
The problem is the output of the videoscaler. Only in progressive resolutions like 720p, the colours are correct. In interlaced resolutions like 576i or 1080i the colours are messed up. The picture itself is fine, no flickering, it's just the colours.

So I started to investigate this and this is what I gathered so far:
- With the H.264 pro recorder from Blackmagic, the colours are correct, even in interlaced resolutions.
- Same with the Intensity Capture Card: Colours are correct in all resolutions
- I downgraded the Atem Software to 3.1: The colours are correct. With everything newer than 3.1 not. But I have no SDI audio support in 3.1 so this is not an option.

So this looks like a software issue of the ATEM TVS to me.

Did anybody experience the same or has any further ideas?
Where can I file a bug report on this?

Thanks.

Just tested it also with the Intensity Shutle USB 3.0: colours are also correct there.

Update: When I filter the HDMI signal through the Intensity Shutle USB 3.0, the colours are fine. The native output from the scaler not. This is very peculiar...

Hi,

Some of the BMD products accepts signals both in YUV and RGB colour space.
The Kramer probably outputs RGB and the TVS wants a YUV signal.
I'm not sure why it at some point had support for RGB but the specification are only for YUV colour space.

Double-check both your cameras and your Kramer scaler to see if there is a way to set your color space to RGB or YUV. They could possibly even be specific to the output format, where 720p could have a separate setting for color space than the 1080i. Maybe. Worth a look.

Thanks Hakan. That seems to make sense.
I will try a different scaler with YUV output.
