hey guys we are looking at getting some new presentation computers mostly for corporate use, ppt, and video playback and wanted some of the forums thoughts on what they use and spec's of computers out there, the pros, cons of laptop vs desktop and build your own or off the shelf.

thanks assume reliability and portability are a must ... our it department spec'd some i3 $499 consumer crap laptops and i know with the complexity and graphics heavy ppt presentations getting used at conventions these days that just won't cut it.

I was thinking a custom built job 2 ru space with with ssd and hdmi/display port output to use with our atem's currently using laptops which are nice and portable but lack the horse power sometimes both graphically and speed wise.

For the price of custom built 2 ru monster you can also consider looking at some i7 laptops which have dedicated graphics, just make sure you're getting the latest i7 (Haswell or 4th Gen).
