GPI & Tally Interface

What is the function supported by the GPI part of the GPI & Tally Interface (i.e. GPI in 1 thru 8) ?

Does it CUT or make AUTO transition of the selected channel ?

One of the functions is to turn on a tally light mounted at the camera when the camera goes live.

You would need an additional controller and tally light to make the system work.

The tally lights would use the GPO (General Purpose Output. )
The GPI (General Purpose Input) connections on the tally box currently do nothing at all. (future update may allow them to trigger functions of the switcher, but currently they are doing nothing)

I was talking about GPI (inputs) has I've already implements Tally functionnality in my Demo system.

For those it found this to be usefull, here is the actual implementation of the BMD GPI et Tally interface outputs (this not curently documented in any BDM manuals):

GPO1: Ch1 "Program" tally
GPO2: Ch1 "Preview" tally
GPO3: Ch2 "Program" tally
GPO4: Ch2 "Preview" tally
GPO5: Ch3 "Program" tally
GPO6: Ch3 "Preview" tally
GPO7: Ch4 "Program" tally
GPO8: Ch4 "Preview" tally

A BMD GPI et Tally interface could adress only 4 channels on an Atem switcher (even if you don't need Preview Tally). We can add 2 interface, then, total 8 channels can be adressed for Tally Lights.

Maybe in the future there will add a kind of mapping solution in the Atem software to choose what is associated with a given GPO (and GPI).
