Videohub with Multiview (pay per license)

PostMon Aug 07, 2023 2:57 am

I'd love to see a future product of a videohub with built in multiviews. I know there are probably more layers (harder than I think) and it will take more compute power, but this is something I'd be willing to pay more for, and pay per multiview license. It could be a separate product with the price built in, or it can be a purchase option.

Something like this would be awesome:

Videohub 40x40 12G ($3995 base price)
Up to 8 multiviews ($299 per license)

Videohub 20x20 12G ($2395 base price)
Up to 4 multiviews ($299 per license)

Videohub 10x10 12G ($1395 base price)
Up to 2 multiviews ($299 per license)

Does this sound like something you'd like too? Please brainstorm with me, comment, like, and please let me know the best way for us to make a future feature request.

I'd also love to see a 3U and 4U videohub with possibly 60 and 80 SDI's, but that's another thread ;)

You basically descibe the Ross Ultrix series.. Only Ross is much more expensive..

BMD up till now never did anything with on device licenses so i dont see that happening..

But a 80x80 with up to 2/4 MV outputs would make me buy it instant.. :D

You would trust that BMD would be able to provide functionality based on a post-purchase license setup? They don't even provide promised features out of the box at the time of purchase. LOL.

I believe BM missed a HUGE opportunity to add some kind of Multiview output option on the new range of 12G SmartHubs, especially on the bigger MV models!

It could have been done either by building in MV hardware as standard that can be unlocked via a license after purchasing for those that need it (as per this thread) or an additional module / card that could be added to the SmartHub by those that need it to add this functionality.

But we got neither....Sigh!!!!!
