Hyperdeck Studio Timecode for Camera ISO Options

My goal is to have 5 Hyperdecks, one for clean and one for each of 4 cameras to record ISO. I want to be able to sync all the raw footage together later using timecode so I can combine it with an EDL generated from the tally signals from our switcher.

Is the Hyperdeck Studio PRO the only option for me? It would be nice to be able to somehow embed the timecode in each HD-SDI signal before it gets to a non-pro version of the Hyperdeck to be able to save money.

All I've found is a Cobalt 9381 HD/SDI Timecode Inserter (http://www.cobaltdigital.com/products/61/9381) and the ESE HD-491/SD HD/SD SDI Timecode Decoder/Generator. Both would be way more considering how many signals I'd need to embed.

Thoughts?

If you aren't using the Hyperdeck pro, you could always DA the timecode, and lay it down as an audio channel on each deck, than you can use FinalCut or Avid to time align the various feeds.

This completely depends on your camera, but . . .
Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I think the Hyperdecks Shuttle will record the SDI with the time code. The tech specs for the Shuttle say this: "SDI Metadata Support: HD RP188 and closed captioning." I'm pretty sure the RP188 is the Timecode.

So all you need to do then, is to sync up the timcode on your cameras. That depends on your camera's capabilities.

The ISO's for each camera wouldn't include audio in my case since the signal comes from a CCU for each camera and it wouldn't be combined with audio before arriving at the decks. Syncing each camera's TC together is also a challenge because the TC input on the camera doubles as one of the component outputs which supplies the studio adapter with the signal to be transmitted over multicore to the CCUs for video.

EDIT: I'm using 4 JVC GY-HD250's and their KA-HD250u studio adapters.

I had a couple of GY-HD250's (without the CCU option) and I thought they had a discrete TC in/out connector on a BNC - nothing to do with component out. I know the time code will eventually drift on these cameras, but you can sync the time code prior to a shoot, disconnect the time code input, and they will stay pretty frame accurate for several hours. This is not a continuous sync, but a temporary syncing. After the sync, you have the time code in free run, and unfortunately, it will drift a little over time. But for a while, it may still do what you want.

I'm not very familiar with the CCU option on them, and what affect it has on time code.
