Some Hyperdeck Mini only running with 12v power and not AC

In my company we use a lot of Hyperdecks Mini to record different feeds. Over the years we’ve bought more than 200 of them.
Some units we’ve bought in the last year, straight out of the box, they only worked with the 12v power adapter, they wouldn’t power up at all using the regular AC port. It doesn’t happen to all of them, just about 30% of the units we bought this year.
Do you have any ideas of what it could be? We tried upgrading the firmware and that didn’t solve it.

Thanks!

I also now have this problem. Unfortunately, some time has passed since I purchased this unit and just now getting to install.

Sounds like the internal switched mode power supply has failed - it’s a 3rd party module which takes mains AC in and outputs 12V.
