Intensity Pro - HDMI Interlacing

Hello,

I am working with a sports broadcasting company to do some graphics. They have their entire system running on 1920x1080 50i which is what I get. I have a standard SDI to HDMI converter which goes into my BM Intensity Pro card(HDMI). The feed I receive on my PC from Intensity has blur and lines on the edges whenever someone is running or moving.

From whatever I read online, this is because of Interlacing. The camera captures 540 even lines at one time instance and 540 odd lines at another time interval. Because of this, it is causing ghosting and interlacing lines. Have I understood this correctly?

Also, is there anything I can do to get rid of this effect? Any insight would be helpful.

What software are you using to capture/monitor. I capture 1080 50i all the time with no issues.
It could also be something to do with the SDI to HDMI convertor. you could always test it by playing a live feed from a 1080 50i source such as a camera direct into the Intensity and see if that gives the same issue
What make is the 'Standard' SDI-HDMI convertor?

You're software may be reading the lines out of order. For example even first, then odd, instead of odd first, then even. In most NLE's for example, you can tell it which order you want the interlace in, but it all depends on what software you run.

We are developing our own software and simply import the video frames into OpenCV framework via -

capture=cvCaptureFromCAM(0);
scn=cvQueryFrame(capture);

From my observation, when we connect our DSLR with HDMI out connected to Int Pro we dont see any of these artifacts, but when I tested at the broadcasters site using the converter, we saw all these issues. The converter has a sync input for SDI which is left unconnected. Do you guys think that would help?
