ATEM 1 m/e with video playback

My school's TV Studio has a HyperDeck Studio Pro, and we are getting a new ATEM 1 me switcher later this week. For our studio productions I would like to have a student serving as a VT operator cueing the appropriate video files for playback, while another student serves as the TD switching between our studio cameras and the cued video files.

My questions are these:
1. Can the HyperDeck studio serve as the playback device or would it be better to use a dedicated computer with a DeckLink card (or hdmi output)?
2. If we were to use a dedicated computer for playback, what software is suggested for video playback for Mac and/or PC (Caspar CG, MediaExpress?
3. Is there a way to automate the playback from the ATEM when the appropriate video input is selected (JustMacros maybe?)?

Hi. I'm a newbie to black magic products, but as a guy who does a.v. everyday, I'll tell you that if you are going to use a dedicated mac for video playback, you CANNOT go wrong with dtvideolabs Playback Pro. It is absolutely bulletproof!

Hello, you can take the Hyperdeck as playout from Videos, but all videos must have one of the codec from the hyperdeck - all over video codecs are can not playing. Then you want remote control the hyperdeck is the best way over "just macro" - you can programing the automatic playing then the chanel on air and you can set the start Point over timecode direct in the software and have a listing from all clips and a complet remote control from the hyperdeck.

We just use ProPresenter for video playback off a Macbook Pro connected via HDMI to the 1 m/e. Seems like the cheapest solution.

Not that I'm aware of. Seems like an advanced feature that the ATEM would have to have support for. Although that JustMacros software might be able to do it somehow. I've never used it though.

You can use the hyperdeck as a playback device, and you can link up a laptop to control it using the software from this topic. Email them and speak to them as they are really helpful and nice people
