Live Computer Monitor/stream recording with Hyperdeck

PostThu Feb 08, 2024 10:05 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm relatively new to BlackMagic Design and currently in the process of setting up a small streaming setup. My ultimate goal is to incorporate a few HyperDecks and Micro G2 cameras into the mix for offline content editing and rendering.

I recently acquired a HyperDeck HD Plus and attempted to set it up to record the main monitor. Initially, I used HDMI passthrough on the HyperDeck, but encountered performance issues including lag, delay, and the absence of HDR and High Refresh Rate signals.

My monitor is an LG OLED 4K @ 120Hz.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, I purchased two separate splitters, but unfortunately, they didn't yield the desired results. I suspect the splitters may not support all the features required, and I haven't found the right one yet.

Before expanding my setup further, I'd like to ensure that the HyperDeck is tested and working properly. My current challenge lies in splitting the signal from my video card to feed both my monitor and the HyperDeck with sound.

I would greatly appreciate any tips, suggestions, or recommendations on how to effectively split the signal and get the HyperDeck up and running smoothly.

Thank you all in advance for your assistance!

I have continued investigating and it may be an HDCP issue..

When directly plugged into the computer, the Hyperdeck is fine.
When HDMI splitting (with a splitter), no signal to the Hyperdeck, LG TV works fine.

Perhaps a Display port or SDI cable solution.

I will continue investigating, until then, any community ideas would be appreciated!

I have identified the issue as the splitter I was using. Even though I was not trying to record content I did not own, after searching online, HDCP seems to be A HEADACHE for many trying to accomplish what I thought would be a straightforward process.

I have learned something today. I didn't even know HDCP was a thing up until now.
