Tally Light issue...

PostSun Feb 25, 2024 8:45 pm

I'm hooking up a Studio Camera 4K G2 to my ATEM Production Studio 4K switcher. I'm connecting the camera via SDI, with an SDI cable also connection from program out to SDI In on the camera in order to get time-code, return video, etc. I'm getting time code and return video, but it's not controlling the tally light or allowing me camera control (painting, iris, gain, etc) from the switcher.

Because I'm using SDI, the camera is connecting to input 7 on the switcher, which is set up as button 3 on the control surface. I've tried setting the camera up using camera ID 3 and camera ID 7 and I'm not getting any control. Am I missing something or can someone point me in the right direction? I've told the ATEM software that the camera is a Blackmagic camera and not a general one.

Any help would be appreciated!

Often missed. Make sure you are using Aux or Program SDI as return to your camera and not the SDI marked HD. The HD output does not carry metadata. Also like Roman says the camera ID must be set to the physical input number. Camera control in the software will be that same number. Some ATEM models have a Camera type selection in the File->Preferences->Mapping tab. Make sure it is set to the camera type and not None. I hope this helps.
