Hardware Request: USB to sdi converter

PostWed Feb 28, 2024 10:58 am

Hello

I'm on the hunt for a USB-3 or C to sdi converter.
Either as a additional monitor output or as a external device.

I only found only one product in the internet, with very little information to it.
That one extends as a additional monitor.

What is your use case? Depending on your needs some UltraStudio device might be right. Or just go HDMI and convert it.

All Ultrastudio devices work with Thunderbolt, not USB. There is a USB to SDI converter from PTZcam, but I have no idea how well it works. I only have experience with Thunderbolt to SDI adapters.
As Tobias said, it could be easier to go from USB to HDMI and then convert to SDI.

The one I was talking about was the one from PTZcam but there is not even a manual available.

Going usb to hdmi and hdmi to sdi would be an option. But I don't want to add multiple devices for a single task. In this case it would be better to add a Decimator and only go from hdmi to sdi.

But going from a hdmi solution won't allow to configure it as a external device in vMix.
You can only add 2 external hdmi resources in vMix, which are already in use.
So a straight usb to sdi would be what I need.

I recommend using vMix on a laptop with Thunderbolt and an Ultrastudio device. Or on a PC with a Decklink card.

@coyutbm: I send you a PM.

We use vMix on many dedicated and powerfull encoder workstations. All those got DeckLink cards in them.
This is a special use case on a windows laptop for a specific task.

But thx for the feedback
