Image format/position/offset issues Ultra Studio 4k

PostSun Mar 03, 2024 1:24 pm

Hi,

I just put an Ultra Studio 4k mini attached to a Mac Mini into my existing Atem Min Extreme ISO (HDMI Edition). I got things working well running OBS on the mac mini until I noticed an Image offset of the Signal coming from the Mac mini (via Ultra Studio 4k Mini).

I'm running a 1080p50 setup using the BM Converters to bring SDI from the Ultra Studio to HDMI for the Atem Mini.

My issue is that the whole image of the Source coming from the converters is shifted to the right by a bunch of pixels - maybe 30.

Here's a screen crop of that left edge where you can see the camera peaking through. Sometimes I even get a black border there. Wonder if the black border might be difference between the offset in key and fill then?

I'm not very experienced with all the stuff but heard that SDI->HDMI conversion could cause timing problems - not sure if that's what the result could be. Not sure if the cable quality could be a reason for this to happen but other than that I have no idea what the issue could be?

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks,
Frank

It's because of the Blackmagic SDI-HDMI converters and with my setup it only occurs with 1080P/i 50/60. Other frmerates don't have an offset.
So to get rid of it you have to buy better converters unfortunately.
