Intensity Pro 4K - capturing video in 4K resolution issue

PostMon Mar 04, 2024 5:44 pm

Hi, I am a new customer, I recently bought Intensity Pro 4K (IP4K). I have contacted via email with support, but after a week without any answer form their side I decide to create a topic.

I tried to configure capturing video with 4K/UHD (3840x2160) resolution. Unfortunately I encountered a few problems with capturing video with this resolution. There is not possible to set everything up so that the card can capture such video. When I try to capture 4k video there is only black screen.

My configuration:
  • Intensity Pro 4K
  • RTX 2080 S
  • Windows 10
  • HDMI cables version 2.0 - I tested few different cables
I also tested everything with second computer which was a Dell Laptop

Based on the tests, it looks like a problem with the card's firmware. It looks a bit like a problem with HDMI's negotiating the configuration.

I have tested many versions of Desktop Video (DV) software, there are my conclusions:
  • The latest version of DV which does not have any problems with capturing video in 3840x2160 resolution is - 10.7.1
The next higher version which is - 10.8 already has this problem. Of course, this problem also exists in the latest version - 12.8.1
I believe the problem is with the firmware and not with Media Express because I also tested capturing with OBS with the same results.
  • Of course, this may not work because theoretically in the NVIDIA Control Panel I have the wrong output color format set for the display, which is IP4k.
Output color format is set to RGB, while for 4K resolution it should be YUV 422.
But here comes the second problem, YUV is not available for IP4k with 4K resolution. I can configure it when the resolution is FHD (1920x1080), then I can choose between RGB, YUV 444, YUV 422. Unfortunately, when I change the resolution back to 4K, there is only RGB to choose from.

So at the moment, to be able to capture video in 4K resolution I have to use the old DV version 10.7.1, specifically the firmware that comes with it is required.

Is there any way to use the latest software at the same time for 4k video capture to work? Maybe there is actually a bug in the firmware?

Maybe someone who also has IP4K can confirm whether they also have a similar problem or not?
