Dear all,
I noticed strange issue in Teranex 2D (FW2.1) regarding input aspect ratio setting, that may become lost if input format is changed.
We are using Teranex as converter from Tricaster signal PAL SD 16:9 to PAL SD 4:3 letter box. This is working well with input aspect set to LBOX-PBOX and output as well LBOX-PBOX (does not make much sense to me, but works). Problem is, that whenever Tricaster device is starting, it may temporarily provide other SDI format like 1080/50 or so on. Whenever Terrnex see this signal, it will switch input aspect to CCUT-ZOOM and even if later on SD PAL signal is recovered, it will never return back to correct settings. This is really danger for live production - in fact, it did already caused as lot of problems.
My feeling is, that once unit is tuned with some setting, it should try always keep it if possible (as far input signal is in the correct format).
I thing, that unit should either:
- remember setting for each different input signal
or
- remember last set values and try to use it if possible
For example keep two different sets of values for input settings (aspect, adjust and so on) - one for actual state and one for user preferred state, where:
- user preferred state is modified every time user do any change - press button, tune value, or recall preset
- user preferred state is never touched by input format change
- actual state is changed whenever user preferred state is changed
- actual state can be also changed whenever input video format is changed - if possible, values from user preferred state are used, if not, other values can be used as well - but next time input is changed it will again try to use preferred values first
This way once you define settings for one input format, device will always follow it if there is same input signal and it will never lost any settings if input is switched to other format.
