Camera 8.5.1 Update: Iris problem with HA42x9.7BERD-U48

I made a support ticket 7 days ago but even with another 2 emails we did not receive any human contact from emea support in the last 7 days.
So I'll try to get some help here.
Ursa Brodacast G2 (multiple cameras)
Fujinon lens HA42x9.7BERD-U48
Blackmagic camera control
Fiber and bnc connection (tried both)
All devices on latest final firmware
When we slowly change the iris on the BM camera control the iris is not moving smooth.
It moves in steps (move, stop, move). This problem occurs on the latest Blackmagic Camera 8.5.1 Update and was non existent on previous firmware versions. We also tried on some Ursa Broadcast G1 with older firmware and it also works perfectly there. So I don't think its a lens problem.
If we make a large change, lets say f 2.4 to f 8 the iris moves smooth in one motion.
So it seems like the lense does not get fast enough data changes to move slowly.
Any help would be great

This shouldn't be the case with such a high end lens. It happens on older analogue lenses such as the one I have - aperture works from the camera button but not on the lens, and behaves as you say and I've noticed that behaviour is worse with 8.5.1 too, as well. Have you tried switching C. COM serial off and on, from the Function and Mode selection switches? Have you tried adjusting the Iris sensitivity pot, at the same place?

All tried with no luck yet.
Support is on it but the first input was similar and did not help

You might be your own best advocate and let Blackmagic know which update specifically is responsible. It’s unlikely they have the lens on hand for testing.
Good Luck

8.5.1 was already mentioned, as the cause, Howard: This problem occurs on the latest Blackmagic Camera 8.5.1 Update and was non existent on previous firmware versions. We also tried on some Ursa Broadcast G1 with older firmware and it also works perfectly there. So I don't think its a lens problem

I’m thinking it’s probably 8.5 that broke it which is why I suggested testing.
Good Luck

Hey Mathias,
I see that you are using the ATEM Camera Control panel. I have the same panel for my 3 Broadcast G2's and am also using a Fujinon 42x lens. There is a quirk with the Camera Control panel that you might try. Do you have it set in Absolute mode or Relative mode? This can affect how quickly the iris reacts to your inputs from moving the joystick on the control panel.
The highlighted "ABS" above the White balance button in the box on the photo, need to be lit up to engage the absolute functionality.

Thank you for your feedback. Tried that already as one of the first steps.
BM Support is still on it. The behaviour is the same without the control panel (Software, on the camera etc.).
Its also the same on 2 other Ursa Broadcast G2 but works without problems on 2 Ursa Broadcast G1 with the identical setup or solo.
So it really seems the problem is camera firmware related.

Any developments or progress, Mathias? I would like to know a solution to this too - the only weakness of the UBG2.

The support team sent it to the developers.
So there is still no solution.

Any news on this, Mathias? Analogue B4 lenses definitely perform worse with 8.5.1 than before; and from your info with digital lenses too. Hopefully another firmware will come and improve this. I might roll back; but the media browser is quite useful; I'm not bothered about the streaming stuff.
*I see 8.7 is out; but there are few details.

The last feedsback I got from BM support was that they don't have a current solution and that I should roll back...

The problem also occurs on a just bought and factory new Fujinon UA46x9.5BERD-U1/G1 lens.
Support and developers still got no solution to fix it.
Turning C-COM on the lens dip switches to OFF helps but does not make it perfect.
Atleast workable.
