Cabling for BlackMagic Studio

PostMon Mar 10, 2014 7:51 pm

I'm putting together a BlackMagic 4K studio setup. What cabling do you all suggest? From my research I need a 3G-SDI or 6G-SDI to connect the 4K camera through a DuoMonitor then to the 4K switcher. If possible I'd like to create my own, purchase a spool and cut what I need in length, then crimp BNC connectors.

Any advice would be helpful.

The 2 most popular cable types are Belden 1694a, or Liberty 18-CMP

i would add in a plus 1 for gepco vhd2000 great stuff ...

although at distances of less than 85 meters for 1.5 gbps and probably, 60 or so for 3gbps 1505a makes a compelling case for light weight easier to work with and cheaper ... its literally the only coax we use, if we need to go 100 + meters use fiber!

canare also makes good stuff as do clark wire, and link usa.

A quick question though is what camera are you planning on using? the BM 4K camera?
    ATEM TVS
    ATEM Production Studio 4K
    Intensity Pro
    2 x Decklink 4K Extreme
    SDI to HDMI 4K converter
    Ultrastudio Express
