Growing File Support Hyperdeck?

PostSun Mar 16, 2014 6:38 am

Does anyone know if Growing File support could be coming to the Hyperdeck series?

Support for Prores -> Final Cut via the Thunderbolt out would certainly be intresting

H.264 would also be great. Sometimes I want the high quality formats, and other times I would really like to record h.264 on the Hyperdecks. I really wish they would add this.

With "growing file" support, are we talking about:
1) being able to access and edit content within a clip whilst it is still being recorded, such as lifting highlights clips out of a football match recording, while the match is still being continuously recorded to a "growing file"?
OR
2) growing the collection of file formats or codecs supported by Hyperdecks?

Enabling direct recording of H.264 or x.264 files on the HyperDeck Studio Pro would very helpful.
Enabling direct recording of H.264 or x.264 files on drive bay #2 of the HyperDeck Studio Pro while recording in ProRes on drive bay #1 would absolutely rock.
Even better would be a way to grab H.264 or x.264 to a thumb drive on the USB port while recording ProRes to a drive bay or via Media Express on a USB port on the host computer while recording ProRes to a drive bay...

Two thumbs up!

Not as keen on the other suggestion, as I don't want to have to have yet another computer required to do something. Keep it internal.

being able to play back while still recording. (chase replay) VLC with MxLight can do this on a PC the Hyperdeck should be able to do this for Instant replay

Simultaneous replay whilst still recording a "growing" file is also one of the prerequisites for BMD to produce a low cost EVS-style sports replay box. The other is smoothly interpolated variable-speed slow motion replay, which is definitely not yet offered by Hyperdecks.

Iv been chasing black magic for over 2 years about the latter subject of interlaced play back with no luck what so ever  .
