Streaming and cloud using a phone with the Ursa Broadcast G2
Posted: Mon Jun 03, 2024 6:35 pmI just tried to use the new streaming/cloud features in the 8.5.1 update for the Ursa Broadcast G2. I connected it to a Samsung Galaxy S21Ultra. After enabling mobile hotspot and tethering the camera seemed to be connected to the internet. The internet settings were greyed out and it showed an IP address, but the cloud functions didn't activate. I tried to stream on FB with a streaming key but the data rate of the stream stayed at zero and only the phone's camera was streamed. I also tried using the USB Camera app for Android and it didn't recognize the camera.
I tried using my Windows 10 laptop (USB C 3.1 gen1) and my Windows 11 desktop (USB C 3.2 gen2) instead of the phone, but when i plugged in the Camera through the usb c data port no device was recognized. There isn't even an unknown device in the device manager. Both computers recognize my BMPCC 6K Pro when its in Webcam mode, so it's not a cable/port issue. The computers also recognize the G2 when its plugged into the software update port.
I called tech support and was told that they have no information. Not even a preferred device list for phones. They recommended buying a switcher, which I may have to do. They came as close as they could to telling me that these features don't work.
So the question is... has anyone gotten the streaming and cloud functionality in the Broadcast G2 with the 8.5.1 update to work with a phone or laptop? If so what device did you use and what were the stream and phone settings?
