Update ATEM Mini Extreme ISO to 9.5 reproducibly fails

All,

quite the standard setup. Updated software to 9.5 on my MacBook Air, connected Mini Extreme ISO with known good USB-C cable (Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 cable), started update process.

At 57% Extreme ISO stops the fan, switches row of up/down lights on, update fails.

After that, device is not usable, seemingly broken.

Also tried:

- Switch ATEM on with MIC1 ON pressed to get into firmware update mode, tried to update, same symptoms.
- Downloaded software again, same symptoms.

Downgrading back to the 9.3 software (and thus firmware 8.6.1) seems to work, so I can at least use the switch, but an update seems to be impossible.

How can I fix this? Is this a known problem?

I also tried updating via ethernet, which seemingly worked according to the ATEM setup program, but still left me with a broken Extreme ISO that had a row of lights but that's it. Nothing works, no buttons, no connection to the ATEM control software possible.

I am quite sure the cable is not the problem, as I can install 8.6.1 successfully with the same cable.

I will try to update with a different laptop today, to see if that fixes the problem.

following this .
I am wondering if there is a progression of updates that may need to be done.
I am pretty sure I skipped an update somewhere.

I have tried every possible way.3 laptops, different cables, network. my Extreme ISO simply won't update to 9.5. For the time being I will stick to 8.6.1, as I have some events coming up where the switch is needed.

If anyone knows a trick to get the update working, please share :)

FTR — before I tried to update the Mini Extreme ISO, I successfully updated my Mini Pro. It is happily running 9.5.

Please try installing 8.10.1 to update your Mini Extreme ISO firmware first. Then, you can install 9.5.

Same problem here :(
I tried different cables, different usb ports on different MacBook Pro's.
Updating ATEM Mini Pro ISO works just fine, but the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO keeps failing.

I know this does not solve your problem, but I had no problem updating from 8.6.1 on an HDMI ATEM Mini Extreme ISO. Did the update over USB with the ethernet cable disconnected, from a Windows laptop. Did a complete uninstall of the software on my laptop first, and afterwards just installed 9.5 and followed the "update firmware" prompts.

Same problem here. Atem Mini Extreme ISO fails to update to 9.5 with the same buttons lit up as original post. ATEM Mini Pro updates correctly.

When I updated to 9.5 on my SDI Extreme ISO, it said it failed, but it seems to have finished and is completely functional with all of the new features...

The problem still persists. So far I tried the following:
  • First I installed software 8.6 on a computer and installed firmware 8.6 to my ATEM.
  • After installing 8.6, the Setup app immediately informs that a new firmware is available for installation. If I install this, right after I get that same message again.
  • Because of this, I get the impression whatever firmware I try to install, it’s not actually getting installed.
  • However, when I then connect the ATEM to a computer running 9.4, the Setup app shows 8.6 is installed though, and wants me to update to 9.4 (which should result in firmware 8.6.1)
  • Without installing 9.4, but updating from 8.6 straight to 9.5.1, the update fails as well. Still results in the unresponsive state OP experiences as well.
All of this on different computers (Mac M1 And Intel, as well as Windows)

Did anybody find a solution yet?

Did you ever get your ISO updated? I tried the 9.6 on mine but still had to roll back to 8.6.1

Same thing has happened to me. I have 4 ATEM Extreme ISO's and 3 updated successfully and then the last one didn't. So not sure what the deal was. Tried all the combos, resets, new cables, ports, different MAC, called support...ultimately had to back track to 8.6.1 and it works. Tried to step up from there again but nope. So it sits at 8.6.1. Hopefully they figure out why some do and some don't. Annoyed.
